Cherry is an 8-year-old green-cheek conure with a gentle spirit and a journey that speaks to resilience. Cherry is learning how to trust her new surroundings—and her own wings. Cherry is in the early stages of flight training, but her flight is not yet strong. She`s taking small, brave steps forward every day.

Cherry can be anxious and, at times a little wary of new environments and sudden movements. She will do best in a calm, predictable setting with patient adults who understand that trust takes time. A gentle touch, a soothing voice, and a slow approach will go a long way in helping her feel safe.

When she first arrived at Mickaboo, Cherry was unsure of her new surroundings and needed some time to learn how how to play, and to interact socially with other birds. But with time, love, and training, Cherry has made incredible progress. She now has a favorite toy, knows the basics of target training, and is noticeably calmer. While she can still be standoffish with other birds, she gets along well with those who are just as gentle and patient as she is.

Cherry is very social with calm adults and doesn`t like being alone for too long—she will call out for company if she feels abandoned. One of her most endearing behaviors is her signature ”pew pew” call when she wants you to come back. And if she`s napping on your shoulder or in your hand (one of her favorite safe spots), expect a little growl of discontent if you try to move her!

Cherry is extremely food-motivated and has a particular love for bananas. She eats Harrison`s pellets and enjoys fresh fruits and vegetables—though she definitely leans toward fruit. Training sessions are a great way to bond with her, and she responds enthusiastically when treats are involved. She likes millet, safflowers, and sunflower seeds.

Cherry is a sensitive soul with a lot of potential. With a nurturing home, consistent routines, and kind, patient companionship, she will continue to blossom into a confident, playful, and loving companion.

Could you be the safe landing Cherry has been waiting for?
