update 8/12/11 My goodness, I'm getting to be a long timer in Mickaboo! My vocabulary is quite impressive. I've learned to ask for a graham cracker by name, It is my favorite treat. In fact, I've been known to say "I don't have graham cracker!!" when service is slow. I have mumbled about the "bad cat" and now I'm learning to say "apple". I'm in a foster home with three other blue front amazons. We were all in the same room and we had so much fun yelling and screaming together. Then we were split up in groups of two amazons. I get to share the living room with my best friend, Prince Raja now. Our cages are next to each other. We walk around and play with our toys and talk to each other. My foster mom says I'm the very best at finding things in my foraging toys. No other amazon is as good at it as I am. I am very fond of adolescent women. I will let them do anything with me. Anyone else has to wait until I'm in the mood. When I'm ready for a head scratch, I put my mouth on the cage bar so you know I won't bite. I'm a very intelligent and social guy who wants lots of fun in a safe environment. ____________ update 6/3/2007: Thought you might like an update on my life. If you read my story when I first came back to Mickaboo (two strikes!!!!) I was into screaming and biting. I've been hanging out with a couple other Blue Front Amazons that are permanent residents in my foster home and somehow have become fat and less sassy. My foster mom brings on the good chow and says I am "chubby". I have an adored one here (my foster mom's teenage daughter) and I am very loving with her. I also don't scream or bite much at all anymore. My mom says that I still don't make friends easily and that it is on my terms but I have come a long way. How about we plan to take the next hurdles together? Want to meet me - just ask . . .
If you'd like a little smooth Bailey's to mellow out your coffee or your day, you probably won't invite me over. I'm another one of those 20-something, strong-willed Blue Front Amazons. I went through Mickaboo's charm school several years ago under the name of Pretty Bird. Here I am again at age 22 and more beautiful than before. Somehow I missed the class on "no biting" and "no screaming" so I guess this time I'll be sent to "gentling therapy" where they tickle you with a feather and "using your indoor voice". I am a really good guy and a great eater. I know I didn't miss lunch periods at that charm school or in my last home - I eat pellets, fruits, veggies, healthy treats, and I love nuts. A class I really need that perhaps you can help with is "boundaries and consistency". One day I'll step up and the next day I don't. Or perhaps I'll let you touch my head once and bite you the next time. Now about this noise I make. My mom thinks I may have lived in a home with a really, really loud Cockatoo because I can scream just like one. And of course that noise can drive you to drink (a little Bailey's perhaps) or over the edge. My dad retired recently and has taken to covering me with a sheet, which I hate and it doesn't work anyway. My mom is still working and thinks I'd be happier in a family with other birds. I'd like to give that a try. All the kids are going back to school and I want to go back too. Want to be my teacher? I want to be the teacher's pet.
