I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

I'm two times an island bird. I'm Howard, a 10-year-old Solomon Island eclectus parrot who happens to hail from the Hawaiian island of Kauai. For my first decade, I was truly a happy camper. I went for RV adventures with my family, including kids and the dog, who was a great buddy of mine. Then many things changed. The kids grew up, my friend the dog died and a new dog moved in---sadly, we weren't buddies, in fact, we had to be kept separate. My family found they didn't have enough time for me, so they surrendered me to Mickaboo. These changes have not been easy. In my foster home, I'll gladly step up on my stick and come out to visit, but I'm still a little leary of hands. I enjoy Roudybush pellets, lima beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, and apples--just the sweet red ones, please. I love to hang out on the top of my cage or on a playstand, and I listen attentively to people who talk to me. In fact, I'll look you right in the eye when we converse. I can say my name a variety of ways and you'd be surprised what I can do with a simple "oh," including a Yoda imitation. Otherwise, I'm a very quiet guy. When times were tough, I plucked my back feathers lightly, but I'm still a gorgeous guy (my foster Mom calls me "Handsome Howard"). Even though I used to be a family bird, right now I seem better suited to a home without young children and with some big bird experience. What I really need is a new person with the time and patience to help me find as much enjoyment in my next several decades as I did in my first. If you might be that one, please come say aloha!
