Chica here! I'm a 4 year-old female cinnamon pied cockatiel with a distinctive grey mask on my face. I came to Mickaboo with a few plucked spots on my wings and sides, but I'm doing much better now! Since getting into foster care I've taken mist baths every day, have made several cockatiel friends, and have converted to a great diet. I've been so busy getting used to this new life that I haven't had the time or the inclination to pluck! As you can see in my picture, I still have partially bald spots on my wings but I also have a lot of baby feathers coming in! My prognosis is for complete regrowth and a happy, healthy life.

I am also learning that people can be my friends. My foster dad walks by my cage several times a day to see how I am doing, and I stand as close as I can to listen to his voice. I will step on his hand and visit with him, and I'm less and less scared of that all the time. I'll also eat millet from my foster dad's fingers and, sometimes, I let him pet my head. He says that I am a gentle, curious and naturally friendly little guy with a lot of love to share. Of course, I agree with him on all of those points!

Besides being petted and visiting with people and other cockatiels, my favorite thing in the world is my wicker basket collection! I have several of them, of all different sizes and shapes, that my foster dad got for me to play with. He puts them on top of my cage, where sometimes I'll chew on them and sometimes I just like sitting quietly in them. My cockatiel friends will play hide and seek with me in the baskets too.

I'm all ready to go to a forever home. My foster dad keeps telling me what a great friend I'll make for someone and I'm beginning to believe him. I will definitely like to go to a home with at least one other cockatiel to be my friend and a human who will give me a little time to get settled in. I should have a long life ahead of me so if you are patient with me while I get used to you, it will pay off for many years.
