Update: Wasabi's foster mom says she's a boy! Wasabi is the teeniest little nanobudgie I've ever seen! That's what Wasabi's foster mom said. Here is what Wasabi has to say about herself: Well, life's been kind of rough lately. My buddy Umeboshi and me were staying with these humans who thought it wasn't a good idea for us to fly. So they wanted to clip our wings and decided to do it themselves and as bad luck would have it, they started with my right wing. They cut some of my my blood feathers and I started bleeding, and then they didn't know what to do and dropped Umeboshi and me off at a shelter. I was still bleeding a lot and thought things didn't look good at all until the Mickaboo folks picked me up. The bleeding stopped and I started feeling better, but my wings are still really lopsided and I can't fly. No big deal! I'm a championship-level climber and the fastest runner when you put me down on the floor! Still, other keets sometimes bully me and then I fall off the perch, which I hate. I scold them really loudly (I'm the smallest little nanobyte keet you've ever seen, but my voice is really strong!), but some of them just won't listen. Fortunately, my foster mom's given me a really big cage all to myself so I can relax. I climb out onto the playpen a little when she opens it up, and one of the keet girls here seems to like me and comes in and hangs out with me once in a while. I really enjoy being with other keets, but I'll need a little space to myself and a bit of extra care until the feathers on my right wing grow back. I've started eating different kinds of food, like rice and veggies, but I think until I get really well, I'd like to eat quite a few seeds still. Sound good?
