Hi, I'm Lottie Lou! My foster mom gave me that name when she found out that I was a girl. No one knows my real name or how I ended up flying to a very nice woman on a hot summer day in August 2009. I don't know why no one replied to the posters she put up about me, because it's obvious that I was a well-loved little bird. I adore people and my foster mom says I must have been a bit "spoiled," because I expect to have my way about almost everything, including being on you most of the time and eating your dinner along with you.

I must have been a little traumatized from being lost because I -- well, I started to chew on and pull out my feathers. Mickaboo wonders if it's because the nice lady who found me was told by the local pet store to feed me just seed and also put pest repellent on my cage. Well, Mickaboo took me in after about 8 months and now I'm gobbling up pellets and eating vegetables and fruit too. The vet finally decided to put this weird collar on me so that I can't pluck out my feathers. It's ok I guess and now my feathers are coming back, but I get lots of spray bottle baths to keep me clean, since it's hard to groom all my feathers with the collar on.

There are a couple of things you'll want to know about me. I had a swollen foot that has improved nicely after getting a really warm, compfy heated perch. My foot is ever so much better now, though I still get my pain meds twice a day on a small cube of delicious bread! I get it as a treat for the eye drops mommy puts in my left eye. She says it's because the vet told her that I have a defective (missing) inner eye lid--which is used to make tears. So I need some artificial tears twice a day. Once I had to get something removed that was stuck in it, so it's important that I get those drops. If I do say so myself, I'm a perfect angel when she puts them in. No big deal right?

I'm a real people bird and just can't get enough love and snuggles from my favorite person. Occasionally I get a little obsessive with my beak since I can't get to those feathers anymore; and I can get a little nippy, but not in an aggressive way, just in a sort of obsessive way. I'm trying to learn to chew on my toys instead. I especially like the ones with long leather strings and beads.

Are you someone who has a lot of one-on-one time for a cute little bird like me? My foster mom says that I am just about the sweetest, most cuddly and affectionate bird she has known. I'm her little Lottie Lou and I just want to be loved a LOTT!
