I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

Sam I am. I was born in August of 1991. My mama adopted me just 8 weeks after I was born, and she was told I'd been weaned 4 weeks before that. Can you believe it? Cockatoos should be fed for several months, not weeks. I am very, very tiny for a goffins cockatoo-probably because I did not have a very healthy start in life. I started to pluck soon after my mom had her first human child. I was four at the time. At first I would shred my feathers and play with them, now I'm a full time plucker. I'm very friendly with my mom and dad- but I take quite a bit of time to warm up to new people. I'm not good with kids- I never did "take to" my human siblings even after all these years. I guess because I was jealous and wanted mom all to myself. I'm a pretty good eater- I eat all sorts of fruits and veggies and table scraps. As you can see in my picture - I love strawberries. Ribs and popcorn are two of my favorites. I should learn to eat pellets too though. I have a funny habit of trying to put seed and shredded toys on my back or under my wings. Keeps me occupied. Although Mickaboo is pretty sure my plucking is behavioral and/or emotional they will be scheduling a vet visit for me soon-just to be sure. I will need a special sort of home- someone who is patient and has lots of time for me. My dad has a new job where he does conference calls from home- and I'm not the silent type so it's probably best if you don't do this sort of work either. It will take me time to warm up to you- but it can be done. I took me quite awhile to warm up to my dad but now I love him very much. Will you be my new family? Email the cockatoo coordinator and she'll be in touch.
