Hello! I'm Bosco, a whitefaced cockatiel who has finished a bit of a rough patch. I was put in a cage with my mate, Rita, and left by the railroad tracks near an East Bay Animal Shelter. Whether somebody wanted the shelter workers to find us, and, if they did, why they didn't just take us to the shelter in the first place, is anyone's guess. Luckily, one of the people at the shelter did see us, and turned us over to Mickaboo.

Neither of us looked too great at first. After some medical care and good food, I began to perk up pretty quickly. Rita was much sicker than I was though, and she didn't make it. I still miss her and cry for her now and again, but otherwise I'm doing better.

Mickaboo had to be sure I was healthy so I've been in quarantine for an extra long time. I've had lots of handling getting my meds and have never bitten my foster mom! I still haven't learned to step up and am still a bit shy of people. I'll puff up and hiss at my foster mom to let her know when I need my space, but she can tell that I'm bluffing. I'm really a friendly and gentle bird at heart, but I need to learn to trust people and to make new cockatiel and human friends. Do you want to be my friend?
