10/28/10 UPDATE: Pierre has been through a great deal but is doing really well. He has had two surgeries to correct his splayed leg and he has been widowed when his beloved Piper died from complications after her surgery to correct misshaped legs. Pierre is now stable and strong and has a new friend- Lucia. He can stand, walk, perch and is an incredibly sweet bird. He's a gentle mate to Lucia and a sweet and fun little guy to have as part of the family. Pierre and Lucia are ready for their forever home! Hello- My name is Pierre and I'm a domestic dove who was surrendered to MickaCoo when my young mistress went off to college and could no longer care for me. You see, because of my splayed leg, I wasn't completely welcome in the family flock and now am looking for a forever home that will appreciate both my special sweetness and my special needs. I'm a lovely little bird (they keep telling me) and I'm only about a year old. I need low dishes, a soft surface and thoughtfully arranged home. And I'd really love some dove friends who, like me, aren't too rambunctious. And if you don't mind my saying so, if you ever meet a baby bird who's legs are splayed or some other health issue, PLEASE- take that bird to an avian vet! With care, I could have been cured and be walking instead of crawling, tall instead of short... Thank you.
