Hi, Sunitha here. Everybody calls me Sunny though, because I look like a ray of sunshine. I was found outdoors, alone and injured a few weeks ago by a neighbor of Mickaboo's CEO. I had probably been attacked by a predator but nobody knows for sure. The woman who found me took me directly to her Mickaboo neighbor and from there I had a quick change of luck. Mickaboo got me into an avian hospital where I was poked, prodded, stitched, then given a few days to heal and get my strength back. After that I spent a week with a wicked witch who gave me yucky medicine twice a day. (OK, she was really a kind-hearted Mickaboo volunteer who took great care of me while I was convalescing, but the medicine part was not fun!) Now that's all behind me and I'm in a wonderful foster home.

I'm a lutino cockatiel which means that I'm mostly yellow and white, but as you can see I have some distinctive orange highlights on back of my head and, of course, my bright orange cheek spots. At first I was quite scared of people but I have settled down a bit and am more comfortable now. As you can also see in my picture, I am fastidious about grooming and preening myself. The fact that I am not scared to do that with a guy pointing a camera at me indicates that I feel pretty secure here so far. (Hey, how many cockatiels do you know who are self-assured enough to use words like fastidious?) My foster mom fed me nutri-an cakes and a chunk of apple this morning and I am having fun sampling this new food.

As soon as I settle in a little more, my foster mom will begin working with me to see how far I am willing to go in trusting people to handle me.
