Hello there! My name is Stevie-possibly short for Steveann or something like that as I?m a lady bird umbrella cockatoo. I'm about 30 years old- having lived the last eight years of my life with one family and 20 plus years with another family before that.
I am quite the social butterfly and enjoy lots of attention from anyone and everyone. Do I like being near humans- yes! Do I like being held by my human? Yes! Did I like being home for 10-12 hours alone when my best human friend was at work? No! This is why she is re-homing me and asked Mickaboo to help. My buddy worked long hours?very long hours and I was not happy at all about this. She wants me to have a good rest of my life happy and content although I will mess her dreadfully I do agree I need to move.
I have developed a couple conditions as I aged one being that of blindness. One of my eyes has had loss of vision for a very long time but my second eye lost vision quite suddenly. I'm a pretty smart gal though and have learned to eat, groom and get around quite well despite this handicap.
My other limiting condition is that of arthritis. I take pain meds for this and it has helped a great deal. I also tend to chew on my feet, so need a special soothing cream for that. I will need these things for the rest of my life according to my avian vet. It is due to these conditions that I am a special needs bird and will need just the right caring and understanding home to take me in.
