Hi, I'm Rocky the grey cockatiel. In case you're wondering, I am not named after the boxer who was Sylvester Stallone's alter ego, nor am I named after Rocky the flying squirrel from the satirical cold war era cartoon. No such luck, alas. My name comes from the fact that I have had a rocky start in life and, with Mickaboo's help, am ready to get myself on the right track.

I came to Mickaboo along with Presley, after the two of us had a rough time together in a senior home. I will admit, I was kind of a bully to poor Presley and caused him some pain and emotional distress. In foster care, however, I'm proving to be a friendly and fairly gentle bird. My foster mom thinks I was aggressive because I didn't like our living conditions. Maybe I was hungry for a better diet or more out-of-cage time. I'd rather not talk about it -- in fact. I'd rather not even think about it -- so you won't get an answer out of me.

I am doing much better in foster care, though. The good food and care I am getting here have helped me to control my anger and have given me a positive outlook on life. I am learning to be friends with people and I even do some happy chatter back and forth with Sweet Pea when her cage is near mine. In fact, I'm so caught up in this positive thinking thing that I read the yoga book on the shelf behind me!

I'd like to go to a home that has all the things that we cockatiels need -- good food, a clean and safe environment, loving people who will give me companionship, and enriching things to do that will keep me busy. It's hard to say whether I will be aggressive with other cockatiels like I was with Sweet Pea, but I do like being around other birds. It will probably be best to keep me in a separate cage for a while before you put me in with other tiels.

I'm ready to leave my rocky past behind and make a fresh start in a new home . . . perhaps yours?
