Hello everyone - my name is Boudica. Mickaboo gave me this name because I have somehow survived life so far, and I am clearly a warrior. Since I could not possibly have "escaped" - someone threw me away like a piece of trash. I was found as a thin little stray and was filthy dirty when I arrived at the shelter. My rescuer, a director with Mickaboo, went to the shelter to check on me and ended up bringing me right back home with her as the shelter workers and staff did not know how to feed me and I would have starved. I have no upper beak, as you can see from my photo, and few feathers on my little thin body other than a few long wing feathers. They've checked and I even have scabs under my wings. After my release from the shelter, two volunteers held me and gave me baby bird hand feeding formula with a syringe. I was so hungry I gobbled it all up. Now I have a full tummy and feel so much better. I'm in a hospital tank and the warmth radiating all over my body feels really good too. My human friend washed my little feet and my bare skin, but my feathers are horribly stained from blood or dirt. I'm a friendly little girl, and with specialized avian medical care, warmth, help with eating, and love, I should heal in time. I'm not ready to be adopted yet, but keep checking on me - one day I will need a new forever home - one that takes really good care of their parrot, not a house of horrors like the previous place. My medical bills will be high so if you can possibly help financially I would really appreciate it. I may need more that one special "angel".
