Roo and Dingo here! The name Roo is short for "kangaroo", which of course is an Australian marsupial. Since a dingo is also a type of wild dog that lives in the outback, you could say that we're a couple of Australian birds who're named after Australian mammals. Fun, huh? Actually, both of us were born here in the States, although our species is native to the land down under.

Roo is five years old -- she's the demure white-faced sitting on your right -- and Dingo the grey male is seven years old. We came to Mickaboo from southern California -- near Hollywood! -- after our previous human companions realized that they couldn't give us the star treatment that we need as cockatiels. We've been best friends since Roo was quite young, so Mickaboo is going to let us stay together forever!

Our foster mom describes us as extremely sweet, gentle, and a little shy. We like to be around people but we usually feel safest in our cage, and will make friendly little chirps if you talk or whistle to us when we're in there. Dingo can belt out some impressive songs when he feels like it! We love each other very much and spend much time preening together and making soft, happy chirps. We will step onto a finger to visit with you when we are in the mood for a little human companionship, and enjoy having our cage door opened in the morning so we can sit on the threshold or climb around a bit. Dingo has one foot that's weaker than the other so he might need a few flat perches or shelves to give him a safe place to roost. We certainly enjoy spending time out of our cage on a playstand once in a while. Overall, we're both happy, healthy and friendly.

Dingo and Roo are on a great pelleted diet, and Dingo loves nothing more than munching on a fresh crispy leaf of spinach or other dark green leafy greens. Roo is the gourmet of the pair and will race over to investigate any new food, especially if millet is involved. She also loves bathing and will excitedly fluff up and flap around in a stream of water from a spray bottle. She even likes a good mist under her wings!

Dingo and Roo's foster mom is working on clicker training with them, and they have quickly learned to "target" (they will touch a stick with their beaks in exchange for a treat, and follow the stick around their cage). They are growing more comfortable with hands and people every day and are quite clever little birds!

We can't wait to find a forever home where we can add a human family to our circle of friends.
