I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

Hi! I'm Ernie, a male Bare-Eyed Cockatoo. I spent the last 15 years of my life with a very nice family who rescued me from being isolated in a garage. I've been living in an apartment and recently some new people moved in and complained about my flock calls. My family could not move so I had to. We are all very sad about that. But the nice people at Mickaboo said they would take care of me and find me a nice new family that would be comfortable with me and my voice. I am probably probably around 20 years old. I lost track because I moved around at least 3 times in my life. I'm pretty much a 'perch potato' because I was not allowed out very often, so I will need to get lots of 'out' time and exercise to become really healthy and stronger. I like my seed mix, but I occassionally I take a pellet, a seed ball or seed cake treat. I am testing lots of fruits and veggies and I really like some of them. I like having human company... I do not do as well when left alone so it would be good for me to be adopted into a home where someone is present most of the time. However I really prefer women so my primary caretaker needs to be a human female. I talk a little and say 'hi Ernie' and 'hello' and I also 'meow' like a cat. I do make morning and evening flock calls and also if you leave the room for too long. But I am not as loud as some cockatoos can be so it isn't too bad. I like head scratches and if you say 'touch' I will extend my foot. I am pretty much a typical cockatoo and occassionally will allow a cuddle or 2. Of course, if you annoy me I will 'gently' bite, but my first warning is more of a nibble. I am a nice middle-aged bird looking for a permanent, caring, patient home. Maybe we could be happy together. Contact the cockatoo coordinator if you think so.
