I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

Update: 04/12/2009 I've been adopted!!
I'm Sierra, a 14 year old Moluccan cockatoo. Everyone thinks I'm female due to my eye color. I lived with my present family practically since I was born, but they will be moving, and cannot take me along. My mom is concerned that I get a good home, so she contacted Mickaboo Rescue to ensure they will connect me with the perfect new family! I'm a friendly girl with lots of love to give. I pluck a bit - a behavior carried over from the stress of a divorce several years ago. Moluccans, and cockatoos in general, do not like change very much. We react to stress by feather picking and/or self mutilation. I have not reached that point, but I do tend to chew on my feathers a bit. I don't eat pellets any more but I do love my fruits, veggies and healthy grains. Perhaps you can teach me again that pellets are good for me. My mom told Micakboo that she used to mix ground up pellets in my pancakes. Kind of sneaky - but hey, it worked! I'm a typical cockatoo in that I like to chew things up so I'll need lots of chewable toys hanging in and around my cage. I can also be a bit loud at times, especially at dawn and dusk - or sometimes if I can see you and you are ignoring me. I am used to lots of human interaction - so unless you can provide me with a lot of attention, another companion bird may be better for you. Mickaboo has lots of birds needing homes right now. But if you think I'm the right companion for you, please contact the cockatoo coordinator to find out if I am still available - maybe we'll meet up soon.
