Update 5/12/09: Freeway here...I'm back folks! Due to circumstances beyond my control I found myself back here with the Mickaboo family again. They sure were quick to take me back under their caring wings. For those who never knew me back when I was up for adoption previously, I'm a male adult cockatiel, seem to have cinnamon coloring but could be mixed with a normal grey. I was found on a freeway (hence my new name) and a kind human rescued me and took me to a shelter where they contacted Mickaboo. I still prefer the company of other tiels more than humans but I've been known to hang out quietly with my foster folks. They have a special needs female cockatiel that I've been admiring from a distance and I talk to her quite often. I'm really looking for some one who has other cockatiel friends that I could hang out with. That would just be the ultimate set up for me. Lately I've been expressing how much I can enjoy my great new toys that I've been happily turning into piles of chips at the bottom of my cage (my foster mom seems to sure be excited about that too for some reason, guess I never really much expressed interest in them before). I'm a great eater and am on a good diet so you'll have no problems with me eating right. So if you are looking for a tiel friend for your cockatiels and yourself contact Mickaboo and tell them Freeway sent you. I'll be waiting. I was headed for the Big Offramp to Heaven when I was scooped from the freeway median by an earthly angel. That person took me to a vet and from there I headed to Mickaboo. You can see from my photo that I survived this adventure with my good looks and attention-getting crest in tact. I'm a little shy around people, but will listen intently when you talk--from a respectful distance. Once you can convince me to exit my cage, I'll be glad to cruise with you and even enjoy some cuddling. I'm comfortable foraging with 'tiel friends, too, but nobody has yet convinced me to appreciate food other than seeds. I know if the right person spends time with me, I will learn the joys of human companionship. (I may even learn to enjoy pellets and broccoli!) So if you are ready to jump into the Diamond Lane by taking on a birdie passenger as you drive through life, please let me join you in the front seat! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
