I'm Buddie. What a great guy I am! 37 years old. I don't look my age do I? I'm a wild caught moluccan cockatoo male. I've had at least three owners- one where I lost my foot, the second who rescued me from that bad situation and loved me for 12 years, and my most recent a parrot lover lady who has had me for about a year before she lost her home. She has to relocate and live in a mobile home. Cockatoos and mobile home parks don't go too well together. The first folks I mentioned here left me outdoors while they went on vacation. When they came back they saw my foot was gone and a bloody stump left where it once had been. Years later, when they sold me to my rescuer, they laughed about it and said, "guess he got so hungry he chewed his own foot off"! What a poor excuse for a human being he was. Please don't take offense. I know not all humans are like that. I'm a really friendly guy, step up, chatter a bit in a very deep male voice and get around my cage quite well! I use my stump as another foot to help balance myself to get around. For 36 years I had a pretty bad diet. Mostly seed and sunflower seeds. I'm still not fond of pellets so this lady here at my foster home said I need to, "get with the program" and eat them 'cause they're really good for me! She says her other birds do, so I might just give it a try. I can't hold food in my other foot so fresh veggies and fruits need to be chopped bite size for me. I like toys, chewing wood and playing in an empty brown grocery bag at the bottom of my cage. I like to be petted too! Though I seem to have a preference for men, I am friendly to everyone- a bit shy at first though. Despite the fact that I am a special needs boy I am pretty independent. Would you like to share your life with a lovable, mature man even if he's a bit noisy at times? Awe c'mon you know you do! Let's be friends! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
