Sirius here. I'm named after the brightest star in the night skies, and my name's an allusion to the brilliant yellow-white glow of my lutino-pearl plumage. I haven't always shined this brightly, though. Before coming to Mickaboo I was lost and alone, like one of the lesser birds on the four winds, until a policeman found me and took me to an animal shelter. I stayed there for a few days until Mickaboo came to get me. Coming into foster care I was a bit thin, a bit scared, and very dirty. A quick trip to the vet revealed that I don't have any serious medical problems so, after a few weeks of TLC in a Mickaboo foster home and a recheck, I was made available for adoption.

In foster care I am doing very well, thank you. I've been given several mist baths and have been fastidious about preening myself afterwards, so I've cleaned up quite a bit. (Don't I look good?!) I'm eating better and am learning to step up for my foster dad. Like cockatiels in the wild, I prefer ground foraging to find my food but I am also learning to eat from a dish like they do indoors. I will eat an occasional goody from my foster dad's hand too!

My foster dad says that my pet potential is quite good, since I like people and am so eager to interact. I will still like to be around other cockatiels, though. I'm a fairly quiet and gentle bird and I hope to find an adopter who will always let me shine my brightest.

Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted.
