How you doing? Joey here- a seven year old probable but unconfirmed male umbrella cockatoo. I've got beautiful feathers and an independent disposition. I'm tame but can surprise you now and then with a nip if you re not paying attention. It is probably best if I go to a home with large bird experience. Umbrella cockatoos are also called Umbies or U2?s. Our scientific name is Cacatua alba . We are endemic to the islands of Halmahera, Bacan, Ternate, Tidore, Kasiruta and Mandiole in North Maluku, Indonesia. When surprised, we extend our large and striking crest, which has a semicircular shape (similar to an umbrella, hence the alternative name). We also do this when something catches our interest such as a new toy or person. The undersides of our wings and tail have a pale yellow or lemon color which flashes when we fly. We are really quite a handsome bird if I do say so myself! If cared for properly we can live up to 75 years or more. If you want to adopt me please be certain as I do not wish to move from home to home. I'd like a lifetime companion and home to live at the rest of my life. Think we might hit it off? I hope so! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
