I am an angel of a cockatoo- Lesser Sulphur Crested that is. I'm an affectionate bird, born in 1992, who has picked up the nervous habit of plucking. I've had two owners in my life-the most recent one has tried hard to help me curb my plucking- but so far to no avail. He even made little sweaters for me to wear to help keep me from picking at my chest. I am on a better diet than I have been in the past and am learning to forage for my food as well. My owner said it helps to stimulate my intellect. I'll say it does make it much more interesting than simply picking up food out of a bowl- makes life a bit more fun! I am used to dogs and cats and do not fear them. Of course I should still be supervised when around them- but they do not bother me much at all.. I am a talker and say, "Hello" when you pick up a phone or when you say hello to me. I can also say, "Hello Angel" "Hey buddy and goodbye" and I can laugh with the best of them. Some laughs I have picked up from laugh tracks on TV and I can laugh in many different ways. I will occasionally bite when I am scared. Once I am comfortable with the situation I will not do this any more. I will, however, give love nibbles and if you are not paying close enough attention I will put a hole in whatever you are wearing. My owner had "bird clothes" he wore when hanging out with me- probably not a bad idea. I tend to bond to one person, but if exposed to other people I will tolerate them but will primarily seek out the one I am bonded to. I have a bit of healing to do but should be available for adoption soon. Please check back on my adoption availability! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
