Hi there- My name is Detroit but you can call me Dee Dee. And, since everybody asks, here's the story of my name: When I first arrived at SFACC (as a stray rescued from roaming around Bernal Heights hungry and in danger from all manner of predators), the nice volunteers there named me Aspen. But, when my foster mom met me and saw my bloody nose and how dirty and beat up I was, she changed my name to Detroit. Now, several months later, I've healed a lot. I'm still stiff and sore from old injuries and my foster mom says I "fly like a toaster oven" but I'm a really sweet old gal. My face is like a dolphin's - always smiling. And now they call me a MickaCougar because I've hitched up with a young pigeon man- Peppermint! Oh, he loves me very much! Sometimes so much that I fly to the high perch where he can't go and take a little nap. We're a lovely pair of birds that each came into MickaCoo half dead but have found each other and are now enjoying our second chance. And that gives you a chance to do something very nice and very easy- adopt a pair of king pigeons. You'll be glad you did. Visit www.RescueReport.org to learn more. Print this page |
