Bob is a sweet (yellow-sided) Green Cheek Conure, 8 or 9 years old, who was loved and happy in his first home. Then his world unraveled when the girl who had been his companion and caregiver went off to college. The girl's mother would have been happy to keep Bob, but her husband did not like birds and asked that she find Bob another home. Family friends offered to take him in, but they did not have much time to spend with him, and the new, strange, environment only compounded the isolation he must have felt. Poor Bob got more upset as time passed. He became nippy sometimes with his new mom, and then started crying in the middle of the night, probably out of fear and loneliness, since he never had done this before. So the family called Mickaboo, hoping we could find Bob a permanent home that could provide all the love and attention he needs and deserves. Bob has enjoyed good health, has been well cared for, and has eaten a good diet, with Harrison's Adult Fine pellets as the staple. He could use some encouragement to eat more vegetables but already likes apples, corn, and grapes. He is affectionate, playful, and loves toys. He is used to spending happy time out of his cage. He likes head scratches, baths, and being around his favorite person. This is a wonderful little bird who, more than anything, just needs someone to love and who can love him - someone who can spend time with him. His former caregivers describe Bob as charming and having a great sense of humor. The name "Bob" actually comes from his habit of head-bobbing - the harder you laugh, the more he bobs! In fact, we're not even sure Bob is a boy. Dr. Van Sant THINKS so, based on birdy behavior. But for all we know, "he" could be Bobbye! If you think you could give a happy, loving home to this sweet bird, or for more information, please contact the Conure coordinator. Print this page |
