Hi- I am an exceptionally lucky baby king pigeon. Most are dead at my age (either butchered and served as squab or killed by the predators and perils of the streets or euthanized in an animal shelter for lack of a home). But I was found by a nice lady who saw that I needed help and who contacted SFACC. They came and picked me up on 11/2 and MickaCoo saw me on 11/5 but there was no open rescue spot and so they had to leave me at the shelter. Then, on 11/8, my luck both got better and worse- worse because I became sick (something that often happens to abandonded birds) but better because an angel of a MickaCoo volunteer drove all the way from Sacramento to SF to come rescue me. She couldn't bear the thought of my being sick and alone and stranded so, despite everything else she had to do, she came and got me and assumed responsibility for my vet care. It's three weeks later and I'm still recovering but someday soon, I'll be ready for my forever home. I'd make a lovely indoor pet (or an aviary bird) and you can read more about king pigeons at www.RescueReport.org. P.S. I was originally named Suchi at the shelter but the nice lady who found me suggested I be named Gracey because, as she says, "...my feelings at meeting this lovely little white pigeon... she carried so much grace, gentleness and a great sense of peace- just a beautiful bird who deserves a loving forever home."
