Oh, hi there. My name's Anya and I'm a normal grey cockatiel. I'm named after Saint Anyanka who is the patron saint of scorned women. Scorned, indeed! I was found on somebody's driveway in Petaluma with a bald head, trying to fly but not doing very well at it. I spent some time recovering at the Petaluma Shelter, where they treated me very well and kept me in a safe room with rabbits and chicks, away from the dogs and cats. When the shelter called Mickaboo, one of their volunteer saw my picture, dropped everything that he was doing and came to get me. In spite of my missing feathers he must have thought that I was very pretty. In foster care I am eating and taking care of myself. My foster mom is watching me to see if my feathers are growing back. She thinks that I may have had a previous mate who was too aggressive in preening my head, but as a lady I am not telling her about my love life! The doctor say that I seem to be pretty healthy but I'm still a bit shy around people. I need a family who will give me love and companionship and be a little gentle with me at first. I am a sweet and gentle bird who is looking for somebody to love me. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
