Hi, I'm Rowan. I came to Mickaboo from a South Bay shelter because I wasn't doing very well there. After Mickaboo took me in and got me to a vet, we found that I had pneumonia, possible metal poisoning, and multiple infections of the sinuses and respiratory system. After weeks of atibiotics, chelating agents (yuck!) and nebulizers, I was much improved but I will probably always be a special needs bird. My nares (nostrils) still get clogged easily and, among other things I need high humidity and frequent mist baths to help control that. Besides all of that, I'm a pretty normal cockatiel: I sing, chew on toys, climb around and whistle at myself in the mirror. I have made friends with my foster dad and other cockatiels here in my foster home, and I want to go to a forever home where I can make friends with birds and people just like I have here. If you can give me a little extra care and attention and maybe let me share the shower with you every morning, I would love to go home with you. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
