Hello. I'm Chunmun, a four year-old Masked Lovebird. I'm named after the wise sparrow in a famous Indian story, although my ancestors came from East Africa. Who brought them here and why, I can't explain, but somebody took me home from a pet store when I was just a few months old. The rest of my first year was pretty wild. I spent nearly every day out of my cage, unsupervised and had the complete run of one room. I'm afraid the experience made me a bit of a wild child, and I never learned very well how to relate to people. I'd get scared when my mom would try and catch me, sometimes so scared I bit her. Sometimes she had to catch me in a net. Then my mate died, and I was so sad my mom didn't know what to do and decided she couldn't keep me any more. Unfortunately this happen a lot with us birds. People buy us and try to take care of us the best they can but they just don't know how. (I would highly recommend anyone to take Mickaboo's Bird Care class because they really know us birds and how to best care for us.) Fortunately, she called Mickaboo, and I've been in a nice foster home where I learned to trust people and also my diet was improved (I've was a seed junkie and that's just not good for us birds). There are lots of things that make me happy. I love swings of all kinds, playing on and with husk branches, and having a good spray bath and generally just playing and chirping. Am I wise like my namesake? Well, I'm a keen observer of the world, whether from a window sill looking out or peeking from inside a cardboard box with portholes. I'm a sharp media critic, too. Give me a newspaper article on any topic, from any point of view, and I can tear it to shreds in minutes! My Mickaboo Foster Mom loved me so much that she adopted me and things were going great until she had to move and her new apartment won't allow birds. Now I'm up for adoption again in search of my Forever Home to settle down in and live out my life. I could be even happier with a little structure in my life and a new feathered friend or two. If you could offer me that kind of forever home, or you if just want to learn more about me, please contact the Lovebird Coordinator.
Thanks for looking at me. Chunmun (Also known as Little Man)
