Update, 14 Oct 2008: After a few weeks in foster care I am doing great! I'm eating all of the good foods that they give me -- even the vegetables -- and I'm friendly with everyone. I can say "Pretty bird!" and do the wolf whistle. My foster dad says that I even whistle part of a human song, the Ranz des Vaches section of Rossini's William Tell Overture. I will take his word for it! I love being around people although I sometimes like my space and prefer ambient time together. I am all ready to be a part of somebody's family! Hi! I'm Gogo, a cinnamon cockatiel, improvisational whistler, and all-around friendly guy. My back-story is the same as many of the other birds here: I was found outdoors, out of my league, and almost out of luck. A nice woman took me in, tried diligently to help me find my owner and then called the experts at Mickaboo when she couldn't find them. I just got to my Mickaboo foster home this afternoon. I was so excited on the drive over here that I whistled back and forth with my new foster dad for most of the way. He couldn't keep up with my fast-paced repertoire of jazz licks so he finally stopped trying and just listened to me. See, I'm a great whistler but I don't know any songs yet -- I just make it up as I go along. Hey, Mozart started out that way too . . . . You might be wondering what I mean when I say that I'm a cinnamon cockatiel. No that is not a flavor! It's more like a color, in fact -- I am a light brownish-grey, similar to but lighter than a normal grey cockatiel. I'm a very handsome bird and the markings on back of my head show where I like to be petted. I'm still just a tiny bit shy of hands but am getting over that very quickly. I'm also very outgoing and friendly with people and with other cockatiels. My foster dad says that I appear to be young and healthy and will make a great companion for some lucky person -- maybe you? If you adopt me, you can teach me to whistle your favorite songs and I will serenade you every morning and evening. Deal? Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
