My name's Pina, as in pina colada -- with no alcohol, of course. As a lutino cockatiel I have some white feathers that are the color of coconuts with some pineapple-yellow mixed in for variety. Get it? A woman in Vacaville saw me outdoors, being chased by a group of children, and she stopped to rescue me. She placed an ad online to see if anyone would claim me and a Mickaboo volunteer saw that ad. When nobody else came calling for me, Mickaboo took me in. After this ordeal I was tired, dirty, and a bit underweight. My foster dad was right there for me with a safe place to sleep, a mist bath to clean myself up, and a wide variety of good foods. I was lucky to be in such a nice home but I was still lonely for other birds while i was in quarantine. I could hear other cockatiels in the house playing and singing with each other and I wanted to be a part of that. After being successfully treated for a digestive bacteria I picked up outdoors I was given a clean bill of health, which meant no more quarantine! When I finally got to go meet the other cockatiels in my foster home, I was overjoyed! Now I am clean, well-fed, and in good company. Mickaboo has made quite a difference for me! My foster dad has taken great care of me and now he likes me so much that I just might stay here forever. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
