UPDATE 1/23/06: Very, very sadly, Derby joined his friend Bobo over the rainbow bridge. We suspect that he had developed liver disease because of a lifelong seed diet. Hi! My name is Derby, and I'm a cute lil' guy with a big personality. I was surrendered to Mickaboo with my cagemate, Bobo, because my previous caretakers didn't want to take care of some of my medical issues. Actually, those issues arenít all that bad. I just have some fatty tumors on my body, which are more of a nuisance than anything, and can be easily remedied through eating good, healthy foods. I have to admit, I really loved my seeds and was not sure that I wanted to give them up at first. But with the help of my foster mom and my avian veterinarian, I am well on the way to a healthy lifestyle, and Iím happy to say that Iím currently eating Harrison's pellets and Zupreem Natural pellets which are quite tasty. Now my foster mom is working on getting me to eat these green things called veggies. Hmmm... I'm not too sure about these yet, but I'm sure over time, Iíll learn to like them and eat them as well. Even though I'm a little nervous, I step up and down quite well, and I enjoy hanging out with my foster mom and the rest of the flock on my play gym. So what do you say? Do you have room in your life for a cute lil' guy like me?

Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted.
