Going backwards ten days on the calendar for WuMo of January 8, 2017:
A miscalculation on Woodstock's part, in Peanuts from today in 1970.
TODAY IS THE 1000th "BIRD TOON OF THE DAY" POST!

Six Chix from one year ago today. Just wait until the dinosaur squirrels show up.
Wheeler has trouble navigating some unusually strong wind currents in this Dogs of C-Kennel strip from January 15 of last year:
Rhymes With Orange from one year ago today. Makes sense to me.
Another classic Snoopy & Woodstock strip, Peanuts from today in 1973:
Our friend Stupid the Bird is back to provide the real motivation for migration, in this Diamond Lil strip from January 12, 2013:
Six Chix from one year ago today. Speaks for itself.
Today we introduce a new semi-regular addition to the lineup. Birdbrains is an undated single-panel 'toon which is avian-focused about one-third of the time. The artist, Thom Bluemel, does not do a new comic every day, and repeats run on his off days, so these will have no date references. (As near as I can tell, he's been doing these for a little over a decade, so I'm confident we'll be able to feature one or two per month.)
For our first outing, we look in on a flock of wild birds in the park who have advanced beyond the usual handouts.
