Hello! I`m Tuco, a handsome boy budgie who was surrendered to Mickaboo in September 2020 because my parent thought I was being bullied by my cagemate. However, my pal Curry and I are not fighting in our foster home. Turns out we were getting hormonal due to using the food dishes in our cage as nesting sites! The feeders were large enough that both of us could fit in one feeder and ended up using those feeders more as a home than as a food dish! Our foster parent separated us for a couple of weeks. We were going crazy, calling for each other and showing signs of stress. Finally we both ended up in a cage with another pair of budgies, and now all is well. So if you`re looking for a cute pair of budgies (who you need to watch for nesting behavior), then please consider me and Curry. I know we`ll consider you!
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
